@5DOCTOR WHO NEWSREEL
===================
@1
News from The Prydonian Renegade:
We have CONFIRMED with our source at Amblin on Monday that ALL of the
stories you have seen about people who have been cast as the next Doctor
ARE NOT TRUE! No one has been signed yet. Although several conversations
with actors have taken place, no contracts have been signed whatsoever.
This INCLUDES Eric Idle and Pamela Anderson, which the London tabloid The
Mail reported on the cover of its May 22 issue. Although Idle and Amblin
did talk about the part, Idle will not take over the role.
This information comes straight from Amblin today.
Sorry to burst some of your bubbles, but at least the story is straight
now.
Dream Watch Bullettin is reporting that Lumiere may take legal action
against the BBC to get compensation for having their DOCTOR WHO movie
rights yanked out from under them.
Apparently, the DOCTOR WHO movie was days away from starting filming
(Leonard Nimoy had been hired to direct, he confirmed so at a convention),
but the BBC decided that since production hadn't officially started by a
previous date, Lumiere no longer had the rights. Apparently the company
is fuming, and they want some money back for their troubles.
This may be old news (heck, it *is* old news), but Spielberg finally spoke
publically about the proposed revival of DOCTOR WHO. It was while he was
receiving two BAFTA awards for SCHINDLER'S LIST that he mentioned the
project. He stated that the show's "Britishness" was key to its success
and that "I could not see the Doctor being played by anyone other than a
British actor."
